I got a dumb question, what kind of air pressures do you run on the later c3s? I wound up with a set of BFGs 245-60-15, I had a bad experience with these tires wearing the centers out prematurely on a vehicle similar in weight. I vowed no to buy another set but these were new and free. Only solution ive heard of is drop tire pressures. So whats a good balance of pressure between tire wear/handling? I know this is prob a hard one to answer so I would love to here what you all run on similiar tire sizes that have good wear patterns and decent handling.
I had that size on my 80, but they were Cooper Cobras and ran them @ 35..
The 79 I bought last Saturday has the same BFG's you have and it was taking corners really badly, Almost thought the rear end was going to swing around and pass me like it was a Corvair. Once I got home, I checked the pressure and the PO had 22 psi in them. I ran them up to 35 and wow, totally different car!
My answer would be..35psi.. If the middle runs out first, so be it. You can buy that tire for $110 each. The tires on my C5 are $350 Each and up if I want run-flats. Dang, I really love the simple C3~... The last of the Corvettes that you don't need a dozen computers to work on them!
i experimented with different tire pressures after getting totally confused from a previous thread on this topic.when i ran 30 all around on my t/a's the rear became skippy but the front was more crisp.i went back down to 25 all around but would like to run 30 in the front only.not sure yet.and yes these cars are great fun to work on as i feel like i'm playing with my old erector set.and the excitement of never knowing when i'll return on a flatbed,(priceless).c3 guy's and gal's are very special people indeed.
