Does anyone else try to protrect Vettes they see while driving?
A week ago or so, I was driving on the DC 495 beltway in bumper to bumper traffic. The next thing I knew I was glaring at the mid year next to me! First thing I did was give the man a big thumbs up! Then, I thought this guy probably wants some protection for his gem. So I got behind him and gave multiple car lengths in front of me. Anyone else do this or am I nuts?
I've never done that, but sounds like a good idea, especially while you drool for a while. Also might help keep a huge Dodge Ram pickup at bay for a while unless they try to cut you off and get in between you both.
That is a sweet 67!

Never done that for a vette but I have done it for bikers when I see someone around them acting stupid on the road. I can deal with a busted fender if it saves a life

Being a biker myself, I do that ALL the time. For a vette? Hmmm....
I was nut's when I drove my '70 Corvette on the beltway back when I lived in Fairfax & on AAFB. A 70mph parking lot. It would have been nice to have some back up then. I don't miss that area at all!!!!
Nope, never done that ..but.. when I park on a store or restaurant parking lot and there is an empty spot next to a Corvette ( yeah any year ) I always park next to them . I figure 50% less chance some one opening a car door against mine or his .
Two weeks ago, southbound from Choctaw Casino in Durant OK to McKinney Texas (I75)... 'bout 11:30pm... Passed a C3, slowed down to get behind it... Never made it though, my exit came up...
Always leave extra space and treat other classic car owners the way I'd want to be treated on the road. What flips me out is sitting at a light and you get these teenage / 20 something texters with a french fry hanging out their mouth on your tail. When you pull up to leave space, they try to fill in the space.

all people do the fill the space thing. I hate it. Do they think they are going to get there any faster???? Or are they just plain stupid. I had some old lady in jersey the other day do it(not while i was in my vette but my dd.) i almost got out and gave her a piece of my mind. Probably needed a new script for her glasses or she shouldn't be on the road anymore.
Yep do it all of the time. Especially for bikes as I also ride. Like many have already said, I do my best to protect all classics from the inconsiderate folks that think they are just cars.
