Default switch under steering column

hey guys,
I have a switch that was attached under the steering column in my '76.it has 2 vacuum lines attatched to it.what is this for? thanks for any help

Headlight override. It allows you to open the headlight doors a time or two with the engine off.

Do you have an owner's manual for your 76? Lots of useful information in the owner's manual.

yup, what he said, lol! the original intent was to be able to raise the headlamps without the engine running from the vacuum reserve tank.

It's also meant to keep the headlights open w/o the lights being on to avoid freezing them closed in the winter.
