1978 Anniversary ED - Audio Help?!
Hello all,
My husband has recently purchased a 1978 Anniversary 'vette as a project car. One of his wishes is a new stereo system .. but a much more updated style. He was looking into one of the newer bluetooth integrated decks, etc etc. I'm looking into getting him a decent one for Christmas.
My question is .. can I purchase any radio and have it fitted for the vehicle? If I rolled up to a Future shop, etc and said ' fit this please? ' would they look at me like I have no idea what I'm talking about?
Is there specific inputs, etc I need to know about? In case you haven't noticed, I really do not know much about the vehicle, or other autos in general.

Unless he is planning to install it himself, I would not buy one until you find the place to have it installed. Then, I would buy from them.. You will get a better deal on the install (sometimes free) if you buy from the same place.
You may want to buy a new dash panel from Ecklers or another vendor that will accept a bigger face unit. Then you can take that to some place like Best Buy or Frys and get the most bang for your buck.
Im sure, your husband will most likely want to do the install himself. That being siad, why not give him a "box" with a note inside saying, "Go pick out the Stereo of YOUR choice and I'll buy it"
.. Im sure he will like that idea. I, myself, wouldn't want someone else picking out my radio.. Most places, the salesman will look at the "wife" and sell her what he thinks will be the best unit for HIM and not your husband
.... The other choice is a new panel from Eklers and a gift certificate for the radio... Sorry for the long post, but I hate it when my wife buys stuff for me that I know i would have never chosen, even though we have been married 34 years
