Is that's the standard name for it.

What type and size are most of you using, since I believe standard is 2" x 1/16"? How long a roll would do the standard Blackjack headers and what brand are you using? Any specific vendor?

 

What are you trying to accomplish with the wrap?

 

I didn't wrap my headers but bought some for my rear exhaust to help ease the heat on my new monospring.

The smaller 1in will be easier to make a ton of bends with....
I used 50'x1in for my rear...not that it helps you decide but you can see how much it covered...

Narrow width is easiest to conform to sharp bends.

How much did you overlap on each wrap (1/2, 1/3?)

 

It's much easier to install if you soak it in water before you start wrapping.

 

yeah. I would say about 1/2.

When wrapping you could see the bump from the one under it so you just get right up next to that. So essentially it's about double thickness in the end...

 

1. I wanted to use the wrap to cover the joints underneath the band clamps on the stainless exhaust. I've found the clamps don't create a good enough seal.

2. Cover the headers since I'm getting to much heat under the hood.

I've seen them offered in various colours, knowing that black absorbs heat more, would that colour not be a bad choice?

 

dark colors absorb more ultraviolet heat from the sun....nothing under your hood or your car's exhaust is going to see any ultraviolet so the color is immaterial. some dark colors use carbon to give it the black and to the degree that carbon is a ceramic and therefore slower to transfer heat it might but it is such a tiny part of anything it would I think be academic. Color should be what you want color to show rather than any heat absorbtion in that application.
