I will share this with forum , years ago in 93 I owned and restored a 68 roadster , I always would stop and get a look at any vette in a lot etc .one day in NJ i stumbled upon the 3rd 1968 corvette it was all there and ran , a 327/300 auto air power windows roadster white over red . at that time i worked in a resto shop and thought possibly I could trade/ buy the car , I mangaed to get the owner to consider such a deal , the offer was my 68 fresh paint eklers nose ,for his unrestored car , they did not know anything about the #`s he did ask why I would want that car I just said another project and the automatic for my wife , OK a fib !!!! the deal was my car and $4K we would also swap soft tops , the 4 K at the time would have painted and did interior with no trouble . we set a meeting up i took him out in my car they were happy then came my turn to drive the third 1968 corvette made ,well sadley it lived up to their reputation , the worst corvette i ever drove , elecrical night mare .overheating rattle box etc . needless to say I said thank you and told them more $ my way in the deal and that ended the deal .I still have a soft spot for the 68 corvette and have owned a few as well as solid axle cars .they all have there own feel , I wonder what ever became of the 3rd 68
Serial # 003 not listed on the Corvette C3 Registery (www.c3registry.org).
I bet it is still in the same garage ! at that time i was told those cars should not have even existed it would have been a brass hat car dealers perk etc .and sadley my first two 68`s I never saved the vin #s nor did we save the vin on two 60`s one 59 and yes uncle had a 53 # long forgotten .it did not matter back then !
wow i will have to see that .maybe one day i will search out the old # 3 again .now to see maybe the insurance company that has insured my vintage cars still has record of my two 68 cars they may be on registry

I guess I would have expected more, but other then being the # 2 car built, it's nothing too exciting........&......"TABACCO" interior ......... N A Z T Y !!!

Serial # 03158. I guess this means my is No. 3158 off the line? My is corvette Bronze with Drk. Orange interior, 327/350HP, Muncie 4-speed, 370 posi.. In the process of a frame off. Should be a pretty cool car when complete.
I'm a fan....I remember a 68 COPO L79 convertible at Carlisle a couple yrs ago.....Bristish Racing Green w/ tobacco int....(at least the guy said it was a COPO).......he wanted $$$

...even though Mecum had it listed as "Tobacco", it was Dark Orange. The car itself wasn't too bad for $30K, but the paint on it seemed very "heavy" and "thick". I'm sure it had been repainted at some time in the past. Out of all the C3s sold that day, it was probably one of the "better" buys.
...ProTeam has(had)for quite some time 1968 Corvette #0015. They were wanting at one time $60K for it and I also thought they said it was a "pilot line coupe".
