Default Exhaust System Replacement

As part of my winter project "to do" list for my '73 {350 auto} coupe, I want to replace my exhaust system. Definitely has to have that classic hearty tone/rumble and in researching systems, I've realized there are more options than I imagined. So, I figured I'd reach out to members and solicit advice. First decision is material - aluminized or stainless steel. Next is selecting the right product that delivers a true Corvette tone/rumble. Corvette Central offers a C3 "replacement" at a reasonable price. Then there's Flowmaster, Borla, and the rest. Anyone out there replace their systems lately that were happy with the result and make a recomendation?

Thanks, Mike

I just put the Corvette Central system on my '79 this summer and I like the sound. I had some older Flowmaster mufflers on it before that the previous owner installed and they were louder at idle, I'm not sure which ones they were. The magnaflows sound nice under heavier acceleration but when cruising I don't hear them that much. Hope that helps.

Has anyone put a cross-over under the diff? Seems like a natural location for an X-pipe, but I do not see them in the kits (I know it is not factory).

To the post, my '74 has the factory style 2.5" kit from Corvette Central, and it seems to be holding up nice. I would like to swap out the mufflers for some Magnaflows however. I had Magnoflows on my '68 BB, and it sounded much better. Much louder too.

I have the Allen's Chambered Exhaust and I want to add an X-pipe to mellow the sound a little. When I add my X-pipe I will add pictures.

mine has the corvette central 2.5 magnaflow system behind a set of hedmans and a H pipe crossover. Nice mellow sound at idle but drowns out the radio if I get on it.
