what is it?
i;ve noticed several c-3's with a barrel lock on the drivers side fender. is it something to do with anti theft system? neither of my 78's have one and i am curious. if it does have something to do with anti theft, is there any way i could retro-fit an original alarm system?

Early 77's were the last to have them. Mid year the barrel-lock was moved to the drivers side door lock. (alarm) Your car has it in the door lock.

Bucky-Katt...do you have an owner's manual? Lots of valuable information in the owner's manual, including the factory alarm system.

68-73 the alarm "lock" was in the tail light panel. 74 thru mid 77 it moved to the left front fender. Mid 77 to 82 door lock.

All the aftermarket vendors carry them. They're worth the cost.

Open your drivers door. "lock" the door with the key, see if anything happens.
Factory alarms, after 30 years, can be a bit problematic, tho.
