Default unknown part under dash

Hello,
I found an unknown part under the dash from my ´69 coupe in the near of the mono AMP from the original radio. Can someone tell me what this part is for ? I try to post pictures.
Thanks Uli

I have no idea but wanted to take a guess before someone much more knowledgeable then me tells you.

It almost looks like the wires my stock alarm has.
yellow and dark green go to the brake lights....
red = power
white is usually courtesy lights?
and black grounds

except I just ripped out my interior on my 69 and found the alarm flasher in the rear storage compartment but definitely didn't have one of those like you did....

Looks like a reverb unit from a 60's era radio. Not OEM.

Like Mike says, it is some kind of radio power or effects unit for the radio, but does not look like anything stock, just something the PO had installed.

Maybe it´s a kind of power unit for the radio but is was not connected to the radio. It has a separate wiring, that seemes to be original (looks like the other wirings).

As Mike stated above it looks like an old "Vibra-Sonic" or reverb unit.

Yes, it looks to be an early spring reverberation unit.

O.k. but for what it could be used ? I saw such a part is used in guitars
but not for radios in cars . It´s a little complex to understand for me, sorry.

These were common before stereo FM radios were available. Owners put a second set of speakers in the back of the car and the reverb unit sent a 'delayed' signal to those rear speakers. Gave sort of a 'big hall' sound.

There are "transducers" at each end of the springs. One is a "sender" and the other a "receiver." In this case, the signal is taken from the main radio speaker, amplified by the transistors you see, and sent to the "sender" transducer.

The signal, now converted to mechanical energy, is sent out on the spring where it is picked up by the "receiver" transducer.

The receiver turns this mechanical energy back into a signal that is sent out to a second amplifier and an additional speaker usually mounted in the rear. Other units (e.g., guitar amps) can mix this delayed signal back into the main signal and feed it to the regular amp to obtain reverb.

When the signal passes through the springs, a portion reaches the end and is reflected back toward the transmitter side, then back to the receiver side, ad infinitum, creating further delays that goes on until there is no signal left in the springs. This creates reverberation.

The most common point of failure on reverb spring units is the transducers.

A modern reverb spring can:

Yep, reverb unit from the 60's. Had one just like it in my 57' Ford. You can tell it's a reverb because of the springs.

the "springs" in the second picture kind of give it away as that was the structure of the old reverbs from the early 70's. for those that don't know what that was, it created a kind of "echo" effect on regular, pre-stereo AM radios to simulate a deeper sound from the original, "tinny" old radios
