Default Supercharging an L82?

I'm interested in this even though I don't have the money but could a stock L82 engine withstand to have a supercharger? If I'm not mistaken they have forged pistons, a forged crank, 4 bolt main, and low enough compression. What upgrades would it possibly need and is there a supercharger that fits under the stock l82 hood?

It depends on boost level. If you run 6psi you should be OK but anything more and you had better build the bottom end up. Also how you drive it will determine how long it will last. No roots style blower will fit under the hood but some here have put on centrifugal blowers. I don't think anyone makes a bolt on kit so fab work is going to have to be done.

This is more about how you use or abuse the engine, in the 80's a buddy with a monte carlo got a good used roots blower given to him by a family member, his engine was a two bolt nothing special SB all he did was change the head gasket to lower the compression and drove the heck out of the car with the blower on it, ( and hood off ) he didn't abuse it, the th350 gave up long before the blower did.

Now if you wanna beat on it and romp down the 1320 full tilt...get ready to dig the connecting rods out of the asphalt

If I ran into one of the old little roots blowers at a price I would get off, I would slap it on my 454 and expect it to last a long time the way I drive....
