Not trying to make it look like rubber bumpered Corvettes. Just looking for opinions and wondering if there were any pictures out there so I could compare. I figure it wouldn't hurt to see what it might look like when it would be easy to change. I like the idea of maybe powder coating....maybe. Money's no problem. Just thinking out loud and if I could save a little with decent results, why not?
Awe dude...u didn't just go there did u? Chrome bumper cars are a style loved by many, including me. This is about what paint would look like on mine, nothing else please.

I have always felt the front bumpers on 68-72 Corvettes are nothing more than a trim piece, or something to give yourself a false sense of security.
Before joining this forum, I never thought there was anything special about that chrome front trim piece.

Man I'm sorry, I saw the title.....
Opinion - Chrome Bumpers
and lost control.
FWIW, I was at GOODGUYS last summer. One of the most killer Corvettes I ever saw was an early 60's car painted gray with the chrome painted flat black. It was simply awesome. So to all the naysayers, I will buck the negatives and give a thumbs up.
I have also seen plenty of custom Camaro's with painted bumpers also. Very sinister looking. Try it out. If you don't like it, you can always strip the paint and get them chromed when you are willing to part with the cash.

It's like any significant mod that you make to a classic car. Some will love it and some will hate it. You won't please everyone with anything you do, other than restoring it to it's original condition. Not many people will have a problem with doing that. On a modified car, it is pretty much what pleases you. You are the one that will be driving it.
Personally, I really like the look of that red car on page one. That particular car with the gold striping and other body mods, might not look that good with a chrome bumper. It all fits together rather well. My 2¢ anyway.
that look made me wonder what it would look like with no bumber just smoothed over .it might give it a really clean look.
Yeah, it does make you wonder, but I'm not goin there. I think that would be a BIG mistake for my car. She's all original and if I wander a bit with mods, it will only be things that can easily be reversed.
You can only run painted bumpers with the manditory velour seat inserts. Doing the "correct" conversion will drive the price above the cost of properly re-chroming your bumpers.
