Default Mystery Part Game

Behind my right dash pad was this disconnected transistor on a heat sink.
What is (was) it?

-W (my guess is radio related)

Bingo. Part of the mono radio. If it was stereo it would have 2 transistors.

If sold with a WORKING original radio, yes. I have seen originals complete sell for a couple of hundred dollars. I have also seen them sell for $25. so no guarantee. Do you feel lucky?

Yep. The stock mono radio won't work without it. If you have your original unit and might reinstall it in the future, hang on to the convector assembly you found.

Always a good idea to keep the stock parts, whether you use them or not, at least you can say you have them, if you ever sell.

68-76 mono radio. It's called a convector assembly in the AIM.

77 and up don't need them.

Here is mine from my 72. Rebuilt radio. They still sound like crap even when they are working correctly. I guess we are spoiled with modern equipment now.
