I was working on my car today. (added a 1" spacer for the carb. and put on a dual snorkel) I decided to turn the A/C on just to keep it lubed. The A/C kicks on but there is no fan. I know it was working about 3-weeks ago. It's not even going when the key is turned on. When I switch the lever to high I can here the relay clicking, but no fan. Do ya think it can just go like that? I was planning on doing the upgrade on it in a couple months. Want to get a bigger fan to blow more. I guess I'll do it sooner now.
Make sure you didnt knock off the ground wire and then check the power wire for voltage.
If the relay is clicking, Im safe to say there's power there. But are you saying to check the wires to the fan itself? The negative is connected. I just redid that wire with a heavier gauge so the fan would blow a little more. I'll check the power one tomm. Thanks.
Yes check the 12 purple at the fan. The high blow circuit is a separate circuit from the other 3 speeds but the 3 speed circuit and the high blow both pass through the high blow relay.
Its unusual that both circuits go out at once if both were working.
Check your purple at the fan or the high blow relay ,if no power check the red and the dk blue at the high blow, that should tell us something.
Okay, all the wires are getting power. The only place there is no power is the black flat-two wire plug on the right side of the relay in pic. Everything else lights up. Including the neg. wire. The switch is brand new. SO? The fan finally went?
Are you getting power on the purple wire at the fan motor?
If you are.. verify that the ground is good. Do this with a test light using the purple as your hot and the ground connection for the ground. If the light comes on then yes.. the motor is toast.

it's usually the high speed that causes the problems. if i remember correctly there is even a separate fuse for the high speed function. just because you hear the relay clicking, doesn't mean the relay hasn't gone south on you.
DUHHHH! I found it! K.I.S.S.- When I checked the neg. I only checked one end. The other end came off the post on the fan. Boy do I feel stupid. Took me awhile to figure out. I new it had to be somthing simple. THANK YOU GUYS for your help! And thank you wilcox for the wire diagram. Merry Xmass to all... Dave.
Glad you figured it out.. not the time of year for no blower motor ... That's for sure!
Thats why I was not sweating it. I knew I was going to do the upgrade anyway. This just bought me some time. Next week I tackle the tranny. Putting in a transgo reprogramming kit.
