Default Transmission suggestions needed

Im currently doing a frame off on a 74 and need to figure out what Im going to do tranny whise.

I swapped out my 74 auto frame with a 73 manual frame. So I believe I cannot just drop in my T400.

If Im going to need to do any modifications to get a trans to work then Ide want to swap for either a 4 speed auto or a 4 or 5 speed manual (no real preferance).

My question is what would be the easiest (money is also an issue) to get to work? A 4 or 5 speed manual (suggestion on which aswell please) or a 4 speed auto (ditto)?

I put in a Ford T-5 5 speed in my '69 about 5 years ago when I restored it. I love it and if I remember correctly it was only about $400.00 total including the bellhousing and hydralic clutch.
Now you will hear guys saying that it will not hold up very well with anything more than 300 or so H.P. but I have a warmed over 350 with approx. 400 H.P and bang it pretty hard and have never had a problem.
Do a search on "T-5" and you will see all that is involved with the swap.
I hope the info. is still there. It was a pretty popular swap at the time.
One of the guys that walked me thru it's name was Bernie'sVette I think. You can search for his posts on the subject too.
If this interests you I may be able to dig up some of my old papers on it and post them for you as well.
It will come out of the hole really well and at 70 mph on the highway I cruise at about 2000 R.P.M's
Like I said...I feel this was a good setup for the money. I have zero regrets!!!

Good luck in whatever you choose!

After doing somre reeading I've decided to go with the 2004r just because it seems to be the best fit for me.

Ive read a lot of threads of going from th400 to 2004r but not manual to auto. Im going to make my cross member removable but I was wondering if I need to shift it back at all or do any other mods to it?
