I'd love to build a whole new center console and then wrap it in a black leather or similar type material. I'm not a fan of the wood grain either. The carbon fiber done right is OK but I have seen some real classy leather type consoles at some shows. There was a C3 at Carlisle this year in the SRIII MOtorsports booth. It had a C6 drivetrain in it and had a custom console in it. I wanted to take it home with me. Probably one of the classiest C3 consoles I have seen. here you can see it in their opening page somewhat. The interior picture yo ucan somewhat see it. It has a custom Ebrake and HVAC controls.
previous owner had already installed a carbon fiber dash kit on my 78. decided it didn't look to bad and kept it.
Although i think eventually i change over to something nicer
Okay that pic's kinda SMALL! anyone know how to fix that

That was just the thumbnail. Here is the full size pic.
Doesn't look bad. Still not sure about it though. They have different size designs of the carbon fiber, in addition to the one I showed. They also have brushed aluminum and a black chrome looking finish. I am back and forth on just painting it black or going with something like the applique. Now I am not sure about carbon fiber next to an 8-Track tape player. LOL! Thanks for posting the picture!

thanks,
what method did you use to post the fullsize pic?
I figured this would be fine for now and later when i do a full revamp of the interior I'll probably pull the console and dash and "glass" them over.

As far as the full size pic, I just looked at the address of the thumbnail and took the "thumbnail" part of the address off and the full size pic came up.
I did my own aluminum panels for speedo/tach, gauge console, and shifter area when I put in all VDO gauges (really like the vacuum gauge). Not expensive, but did take some time. Got an aluminum 6 spd shifter **** from a late model camaro. Currently the panels are brushed finish but I plan to remove them and do nickel, maybe quarter, sized round overlapping patterns (jeweled?)-can do it with a dowel, drill and fixture to step consistently. Was worried the jeweled finish might reflect too much initially.
This looks interesting. Similar to the woodgrain kits, but this one is a simulated carbon fiber (sample at bottom right). ... Anyway, I am considering trying the carbon fiber version, which might look better than the woodgrain in my interior.
Has anyone tried the "Sherwood Dash" kit from www.wooddash.com? i'm considering a simulated metal (although i would prefer a real metal console and center cluster)
One of our sons is a CNC machinist with access to lots of fancy machines. He has made some nice custom parts for guys in our car club. I am sure he could make a nice aluminum or stainless steel console if he had a pattern or parts to copy. Any patterns or donor parts out there?
I'm rebuilding my car right now and have it stripped. I could LOAN my parts out if he'd give me a deal on a set if he could make them look pretty cool.
