They are good in that they are a reliable system and get great fuel economy. They are bad because there are not a lot of performance mods you can do and they were only in production on the Vette for two years (82,84).

Neutral... Its a tradeoff between reliability and economy vs. ease of repair and modification. All depends on what you want to do with the car.

No problems with mine. Runs like a top and very fuel efficient and reliable. Actualy I think GM used this system on most of its cars through the early 90's?? Its just that the Vettes had Dual TBI instead of one??

There are people out there that will tell you that the Cross-Fire is junk, but I disagree. Lot's of owners have gotten thousands of miles of trouble free driving from them. Technology was changing rapidly at that time. GM developed the Tune-Port system and replaced the Cross-Fire with it, because it was more efficient and could be made to produce more power, than the Cross-Fire.

If there's a rub with the system, it's the availability of parts and the lack of knowlegable people around still to work on them. This is a legitimate concern, but I won't let keep me from buying my "dream" car.
