Default used frame price question

Rebuilding the 78 but not doing a frame off. I have quite a bit of rust on the frame that I will have to take care of. I ordered the chemicals from Eastwood to make the job easier (hopefully they work like the video shows). Birdcage seems to be fine, just need a little fix on the upper corner of the windshield frame.

I cam across someone selling a 79 frame that has been sandblasted and painted. Just the bare frame, not a roller. Looks like it was an auto because the picture doesn't show a crossmember installed. I thought about calling and making an offer and just transfer my body to it but don't want to pay his asking price.

What is a fair price for just a frame? I really have nothing to base it off of. If I decide to go this way and make an offer, I'd like to make an informed offer. I am assuming a 78 will fit on the 79 frame without any issues.

I was thinking in the neighborhood of $400-500 . It isn't powder coated and I don't know what kind of paint job he did on it. He is asking $700.

I would say $800 for a bare frame $1,200 for a blasted and painted frame. Only problem with a painted frame is it's really difficult to get the frame from his place to yours w/o scuffing it up. Not impossible, just difficult. If your frame is ok, I'd leave your frame and just coat it. If it's got lots of holes in the typical spots, then change it. Once you get into the new frame, don't forget you'll probably be into all new suspension and a lot more time and $$ too. But then it'll drive/handle better. So you have to weigh the options.

I am replacing all the suspension anyway. I did not want to pull the body but guess I will take that step to see what condition it is in overall.it looks but mainly surface rust. The birdcage was my big worry buto a check last night made me feel comfortable about it.

I sold this 75 for $900 after I sanded and pained.

I sold this 79 for with all new lines $960 since the paint wasn't perfect (no offense to the original owner)
