Well as you may see my question is about the three speed. I am not aware of one being made. Am I missing something? Thanks
Tucker
The three speed trans was still standard on 69 models but most buyers (38,510 out of 38,762) opted for a 4 speed or automatic. If it is a true black on black three speed it is, indeed, a very rare model, and would probably go for a lot more than 18k if it had the original engine.
Thanks Yes, I see that now should have looked a little closer. How would you know without the tank sticker? Looks like a nice car. I wish he would post more pictures.
The 4 speed became standard for the 1970 models; the 3 speed was standard on the 68s and 69s. You got the 3 speed if no optional transmission was ordered.
Looks like an otherwise nice 69. Actual rarity would be speculation. Asking price seems high for a car without the original engine.

The 3 speed was still standard in 1970. For 71, it was dropped and the 4 speed became standard, with the Turbo-Hydro as a no cost option.
Rare doesn't always mean valuable. Though rare, as 1Fordman said, 3 speeds aren't very desirable. A similar 4 speed car is probably worth as much, if not more than a similar 3 speed one.

they are just "unusual" in my opinion. it would just lead one to believe that the car was ordered as a pretty basic car (and it might even lead you to believe some of the "options" were added after the fact and didn't come on the car from the factory. that of course is just a guess). as a NOM car, it seems a bit pricey to me.
" True Black on black 342 made, and last year of production untill 1988"
Interesting comment. Seeing how 1969 is the year without production total for colors on cars, I'd like to know where he gets his statistics on color combinations.
I'd also like to know what the last year production until 1988 he's talking about is... if its black, the production resumed in 1977 (and yes, you could get black/black).
Id like to see the trim tag. I dont belive much this guy says.
Real code 900 black/black cars have a value jump, but moreso on the convertible. The 3 speed does not add to the value, and the NOM hurts it, so he's way off on price. No pictures ain't helping him either.
