68 leather interior option question
Hi
I know that the 68 leather interior option was available, but had no RPO code for ordering.
Is this also correct for the trim tag ? Meaning, can the trim tag STD be for vinyl and also for leather interior ?
The black book shows also the 402 code for Bk / L !

The codes (like 402 for black leather) were the equivalent of an RPO.

Leather was an option for '68. The trim tag will show the correct code for the leather and the color.
STD on the trim tag indicates black vinyl upholstery. You got black vinyl if a different color or leather was not specified on the Corvette order.

Unfortunately dark blue was only offered in vinyl. No dark blue leather in 68.

Hi
Thanks, that what I thought.
So the trim tag will tell if it was leather regardless that there was no RPO for it.

Correct. I would love to have leather for my code 411.

Correct. The trim tag should show the correct code for the specific color of leather.

Re-read my answer above. Having a 'traditional' RPO in addition to the three digit interior order code would be redundant.

True, but the leather seats can be made any color you want in a correct 68 pattern and no one will know the difference unless pointed out

Here's an idea, do the leather in your favorite color and if and when you sell, remove and use the leather seats as office or desk chairs. Probably better than most you can buy as furniture.

A car with no seats might be hard to sell.
