Going in for a little face lift
Its time. I had my car painted about 18 years ago and the paint still looks great. It needs a little change though. I bought a long L88 hood for it. I am going to have it painted with a somewhat different stripe. Also looking to change the top maybe to a black cloth top. The guy who painted it 18 years ago wants the whole car to blend in the hood paint. He is also going to fix the few nicks I have gotten over the years and then is going to shot it with some new clear coat that he has had very good success with. I have seen it ad the car looks wet all the time with a deep shine to it. Won't happen right away but I should have it by the springtime if the weather cooperates.
I sold my LT1 hood as it has not been an LT1 for years and the L88 will give me a little more clearance to run a proper air cleaner.

I have always thought your car looks great. Your Torq-Trust II's with the titanium centers give it a great look. How about a titanium grey L88 scoop on a red hood? A period correct hot rod.

Looking fwd to seeing the pics when done, I've always loved your vert.
You do know that we are going to come up with great ways to spend your $ now.

Sometimes a little change here and there can reinvigorate things. Nice to know you have a competent painter to do the work.

Gordon,
Like the others, can't wait to see it. I'm going for paint this summer on the 69 too. Can you find out what clear coat your painter is using? I haven't purchased the materials yet so if you're satisfied and recommend it, I'll go that route too.
I changed from an Arctic White vinyl top to a black cloth top on my 91 a few years back. Took the better part of the day but was a relatively simple process and turned out real nice (if you plan on doing it yourself). Most important part was cleaning and prepping the frame after the old top was removed. Good luck.

Yes I will probably do the top myself. I had it done 18 years ago when it was painted so I think it is time for a different look. When the time comes I plan on redoing the top frame also.
Also planning on some new rubber as the rears are older and about shot. Same size just stickier rubber. Not concerned with tire wear.
One of my favorite shots of the car.

Can't wait to see it when it's done Gordon. I've always liked what you've done with your vette, I'm sure it will be equally as impressive

I'm looking forward to seeing the results as well but, I want to make sure I understand what you're having done. It sounds to me like you're not having the car repainted but you're having some nicks / chips repaired, installing a new L88 hood and then you're having the car re-cleared.
So not really a full re-paint but a "refresh"?

I'm not having the car repainted as the paint on it is in very good condition. I am having a few nicks taken care of and the hood and fenders will probably have to be blended together as the paint has probably changed in color over the years slightly.
As far as losing the wiper door, the long hood came along and I took it. Did not really matter to me as the car rarely has had the wipers up. I'll get rid of some vacuum lines and the pie tin in the engine compartment.
