Trying to figure out how, to start my 69 vette in the morning when its cold without flooding or running the battery down. When i first get in it, how many times should i pat the gas pedal? It has an electric choke thats controlled by the gas peddle..

I pump mine 8-10 times, then crank. Sometimes I need to keep pumping until it starts. Even if it hasn't started for a month in the cold, it usually starts in under 10 seconds of cranking.

2 times all the way to the floor...then dont touch the gas pedal, crank it up. ONLY when cold...general rule, if the car has been running in the last 4 hours - dont touch the pedal.

In theory you should only have to pump it once, but that's rarely the case.

Mine doesn't have a choke, so I start cranking it first, then start pumping until it starts. Usually 3-4 seconds.
