Default Tire brand thoughts - input

So I picked out my wheels but I'm stuck on tires. Sooo many online stores make my wheel selection look like a real bargain when you do the wheel/tire combo, but I have been a major tire brand guy all my life and very few of these online stores offer large brand name tires.

Any input on Nitto, Falken, Toyo ect. vs. GoodYear, BFG etc. would be apreciated.

My car will be a street driver for the most part, 4 speed, 400+ hp, 383 motor, 5000 miles per year estimated on average.

Thoughts?

What size wheels did you go with? With that much HP your going to want alot of rubber to keep you on the road.

I went with cooper tires. I have stock wheels. So 245/60/15 up front and 255/60/15 in the rears. Under 400/bucks installed!

From my experience

Nitto = good
Dunlop = good
Michelin = good
Goodyear = no good
BF Goodrich = no good

With 400Hp I would run Nittos.
Either way 555R (drag radials), or NT05. Both great street tire with that kind of power.

Those are nice, but not with 400RWHP on the street.

Nitto tires get my vote. I have used lots of 555R drag radials on other cars. For a regular street driven car with under 500 rwhp they are great. They work well in the rain, can hook if needed and wear is about 10k miles before needing to be replaced.

I humbly disagree.. i have 440tq and over 440hp at the rear wheels, did a lot of research.... and imho,

http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/tire-...-t-a-kdw-tires

they have either W or Y speed ratting depending on size,

bfg spill from customer:

What Customers Are Saying:
I have a G8 GT and g-Force T/A KDWs on it. I bought them 'cause I had heard they were great wet/rain tires and boy are they. Not only that, they are far better than even my Nitto 555s on grip. The car stops several feet faster, handles way better and even at the drag strip, these tires hold their own. I was a diehard Nitto fan but now you will only see KDWs on my rides. Thanks BFGoodrich for taking the time to make and design this awesome tire and thanks for making it in so many different sizes.

I had them. They are ok, but forget about launching your 400RWHP car on the street. Tire spin all the way to 50mph.

Nitto 555RII are MUCH better alternative with that kind of power.

Of course if you aren't too concern about straight line traction, and want all season tire that handles great in the rain then they are good.
S.
ps. Nitto 555 (regular tire) is VERY DIFFERENT than Nitto 555R (drag radial)

I have Falken ZE-329...225/60R15... Great wet or dry, track or street... Not much choice in 15' though... 18" would be the same performance ...

Thanks guys!

After doing some further research and taking your all's input, I went with the Nitto NT555's. Reviews I read seems to indicate these are a fair tire with good traction. Spoke with a buddy running them on a 450 HP Camaro and he really likes them vs. the GY's he had on it...says they are very quite and have great traction on his car.

Acro, good choice. I also have the Nitto NT555 EX ZR. They seem to be a good tire so far and I really like the tread pattern. There are better quality more expensive tires, but many of them sure do have some Fugly tread patters.
