Oil Type?
Hey motor heads,
I' ve recently had my 350 rebuilt with roller cam and lifters, head work and all fresh performance parts. I live in the beach weather climent 70's for the most part. Is castrol full synthetic 5w-20w a safe oil to run?

Most old vettes have flat tappets, so oil with enough zinc and phos. is essential. Full roller motor like yours, you can run any oil you like.

I would use a Syn 10w30 or 5w30 but I think 5w20 is too light for a warm climate.

I've been running Castrol 5W30 Syntec partially synthetic (50% synth, 50% dino).

If your engine is still a flat tappet better make sure and check the zddp levels.

No, now I've got a 383 w/roller lifters/cam. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Best decision I ever made. 454HO with full roller. Now of course the hardest decision is brand and weight.
