Default engine color

Can anyone tell me the engine block color for a 1982? If you happen to know the paint code for it. I had to rebuild it and am looking to paint it back properly. Was the water pump painted or not?

GM Corporate blue. Sold in spray bombs at any decent parts house. I believe these were painted near the end of assembly so probably the water pump should be blue too.

Not positive but weren't 1982 motors painted black?

I thought about that...The 84 Crossfires were black. I am not certain what color was used on the 82s, so I will defer to markids77. 80 and 81 were corporate blue.

The Restoration Guide states that most 82 blocks were blue. In August of 82 it changed to black.

The change from blue to black occured around VIN 21,000, which was in August 82. There was probably some over lap of blue and black engines during August, but all engines would be black by the end of the month.

The original GM part number for engine blue was 465820, and the black was part number 14057028. I don't think the blue is still available from GM, and I don't know if the is still the current p/n for engine black. I think that the Seymour Chevy engine blue, is a pretty good match to the original.
