Default Used 2 post lift value???

I have the opportunity to buy a used 9,000lb two post lift. I have found brand new Atlas 9,000 lb with truck adaptors for $1,750.00. This would also add in tax of of $122.50. Grand total of $1,872.50. With this being Brand new, what would be a good offer for a used lift? I am thinking 1,200.00. This lift was used in a auto garage, it needs cleaned bad, but works fine. Any thoughts? Al

Money is tight during the winter months, but if I could pick one up for say $750.00 That would be great. I hate to loose a good deal either. Al

I am not familiar with the new brand of lift you mentioned but I would rather have a used good quality lift than a new Chinese lift. There are a lot of cheap lifts on the market now. Rotary is a premium brand if that helps.

I've seen the used Rotary's going as low as $1500. Used Chinese should be in the $500 to $750 range even if the paint is shiny, because you can find them for $1200 new.

There is a lot to consider with a used lift...especially a two post eg: disasembly, transport and assembly on a thick concrete slab....eight inches or more. Will you be using it for a storage lift? If so will repositioning the arms be a hassle? Also have the used lift checked out by a qualified technician and make sure all the safety devices are in excellent working order. Just a few things to ponder.

I'm currently considering well made lifts (4 post) from two companys with good reputations for about $2200 delivered with warranty.....Greg Smith Equip. and ASE deals. Also have friends checking on others.

Good luck

I was looking for a lift for weeks before I realized that I really couldn't use one here. I was looking for used and I never saw any lift in the $500-700 range here, even when they had pieces missing and leaks. Seems like the avg used lift price I saw was $1700 and it didn't matter if it was a chinese lift or rotary (of course the rotaries went higher but they could be found around 1700).

Greg Smith is the dealer I was looking at. I found out the Altas lifts are made in China. I am going to make an offer today. Al

The used lift in question is a Rotary brand 7000lb. He want $1,600.00 It looks to be very well built. 220 volt To me this seems like alot. I might have to pass on this. If anyone is more interested located in Syracuse IN. thanks Al

It all depends on the condition, age, etc, but considering Rotary lifts, especially commercial units, are roughly $6000 new, $1600 isn't all that bad....

I mentioned this in another lift discussion, as was soundly criticized, but I'll risk saying it again. Do you want to trust your life, as well as your car(s) to a $1500 lift?

Well here is my 2cents worth again! I bought a AMMCO 4 post 12000# 18' long with 2 AMMCO 6000# air jacks alignment lift used for less than $1000 bucks. Yea it was dirty and we cleaned it up and used about a gallon of Rust-o-leum on it but now it looks brand new and works great! My friend found it listed in he local paper so you still might want to look around. Try to get as heavy unit as you can because you will never know what you might want to put on it.

If you do a little search (2post / 4 post lift) on the forum you there is a wealth of information out there.

The 2 post unit will need at least 8" thick concrete and it better be extra strong mix with reinforcement.

Good Luck wro87

8" thick pad? Really? For a standard 7000#-10,000# 2 post? Rotary lists a 4.5" 3000 psi pad as their requirement. I'm sure thicker is better, but 8" is overkill IMO.

I just purchased a 5 year old Rotary asym 10,000# last night for $2000. But it's clean, hardly used, and actually looks like new. Retail new was around $4K.

As said above...I'd never trust my life to a Chinese lift.

My lift is on 6" of double reinforced 3000psi concrete, and that is overkill, especially on prepared base. What you need to worry about is anchoring. Mine is anchored by 4 x 3/4" x 5" imbedded Hilti anchors per post. Heck each anchor is rated for the entire load.

Anything over the minimum manufacturers spec is overkill because of the tolerance the manufacturer designed in.
