I have a 1977 Corvette that has set in a garage for about 5 or 6 years. I would like to know What i would need to do to get it mechanically sound, and around how much that would cost. Thanks in advance

It depends on what is wrong with it. Any rust issues? Why was it parked? Need some more info.

Could be $100 for a tune up and new gas, or $15k for a complete resto...

Mine is going to end up at about $10k and a new body....

I'd imagine that your brakes would be the first thing needs to be seen to.

They nearly always leak if left sitting for that amount of time.

My 77 sit for 18 yrs, it needed the carb rebuilt to get it to run, all the interior needed replaced, paint, all bushings, and i'm replacing the top end of the motor for more power, i'm looking at about 15k... And that's not a frame off either...

Its was parked because it belonged to my grandfather before he passed and its has a some paint chipping off the front bumper from running into a ditch and the only reason i know it was parked was because the he didnt want to replace the battery because he hardly ever drove it.

At minimum it will need a new battery, the fuel tank drained and I would change the engine oil, filter and fuel filter in the carburetor before I tried anything else. Check ALL the car's fluid levels, correct as required and add some fresh gasolint to the tank. Remove the power wire from the distributor and crank the engine 15 seconds, then wait a minute and repeat that 4 times to prime the oiling system, and get some fresh fuel in the carb. Plug in the distributor wire and let us know if it runs, and how well... then get back to us BEFORE YOU DRIVE IT ANYWHERE!!!!! Once it runs you'll have to check for leaks, and make certain the brakes work, and do a general safety inspection before you hit the road; so you don't hit anything else.

Your 77 may be mechanically sound as it sits. No sense trying to speculate on prices until you determine what the car actually needs.

Follow the regular practices and safeguards for starting a car which has been sitting for a long time.

Good luck.
