Having just bought one, it seems "selling" prices are on the low side. Asking prices are still up there, but not many sell for those prices. Just check ebay using the completed search option.

For example, I just picked up a 71, LS5 454, 4 spd, Working AC, PS, PB, recent frame off, for $22k. Not an NCRS car, but a very good show car and driver.

If it has all that documentation and awards more like 60K+. One just recently sold here for 40K with no awards and some documentation. It was a real nice driver LT1 with air. I had worked on it and it was all of 40K but wit hall the top flight stuff that drives the price way up.

Even though the C3 market is all over the place a solid 68-72 with no issues good documentation and awards will always bring the money.

The C3 market is soft. The market is glutted with vettes. With all the unemployed out there, the toys are the first thing to go.
I listed my 70 last April, had two buyers that had to bow out because of the local and international economies. I finally have a deal, 8 months later. My vette is a nice NOM driver. I'm selling it not because I'm unemployed, but priorities changed for now. I will get another 70 in the future. Hopefully by that time prices won't be sky high again.
Good luck in your search.

Glenn, I don't think you have to worry about the skyrocket prices again. The market has a permanent adjustment in my opinion. Just like the housing big balloon 3 years ago. It burst and homes are back down.

I wonder when the current stock market bubble is going to burst forcing the prices of everything back down?

Rick,

There were only a total of 240 LT1 Corvettes w/AC ever built, and that was in 1972. Add NCRS Top Flight to your list, and you are talking about a select group of special C3's.

One car that is worth its asking price of $69.9k is the Steel Cities Gray/Saddle Vinyl LT1 w/AC offered by County Corvette in PA, http://www.countycorvette.com/cars/68-72.htm. I saw this car at Carlisle in August in the County Corvette booth, and it is to die for: NCRS Top Flight, Duntov Mark of Excellence, original tank sticker, invoice & Protect-O-Plate to boot.

Give this baby a new home and you should have no problem acquiring Bloomington Gold yourself! County Corvette has a great rep. I would consider this car for myself if my daughter weren't getting married!

Keep us posted,
Rickman

I'm figuring about April, once enough people realize the "recession" never ended. Time for the big institutional players to bail out, let all the 401Kers take the ride down and then buy back in at the bottom. This game has been going on for over 20 years now. Unfortunately the prices of everything one needs to survive (commodities) will be going up big time...due to our wonderful government printing money by the trillions, which devalues the dollar. People don't need to have an old vette and we all know what lousy financial investments they are to begin with...but then again, maybe they'll be treasured more than gold! (I seriously doubt that)

When the Suez Canal is closed due to current situation there (regime change) and gasoline goes to $5 or $6

Wow Greg, based on the news this morning you might be exactly right.
Pretty much blocks the entire operation if it happens
