Default Broken Tach Needle

Where can I purchase a replacement tach needle? I broke the old one trying to reset tach to zero, and have the base. Can a new needle be glued to the base?

It appears most vendors carry them:

ie. http://www.zip-corvette.com/ProductD...GR-SR&CTitle=&

http://willcoxcorvette.com/advanced_...edle&x=69&y=13

You must need to buy something else so throw it in with the rest. If they send it in an envelope, you know the P.O. will break it.
Doesnt need to be glued.

Ordered a new one from Full Throttle Corvette. $12 also ordered the speedo to match. Old parts are brittle and clumsy fat fingers don't help.

By the way, the tach does not "rest" in the zero position on later c-3s.

Right, the tach bounces and stops wherever, but returns to zero with power on. I was attempting to set it to zero with the power on and dropped it and ended up breaking the needle due to clumsiness.

Donnie,

You'll need to do a zero set on the needle when you install it.. we have a video on U tube and a page in the help repair section on how to do this.

I too broke the tach needle on my 78SA.
The replacement needle, actually a speedo needle, didn't work as received. The hole in the hub was too big for the tach stud.
I simply very carefully sliced the plastic 'weld' off from behind and transferred the needle itself to my original tach needle hub.
Took a soldering gun and carefully melted the material in the hub hole.
You'll see what I mean when you get there.

edit...just looked at the Zip link.
They mention the hub situation....

Can't wait. Maybe try not to drink as much coffee before I attempt the new one.

Kaps, That is a very good point so this morning I added a note to the one on our site.
