engine block numbers
1982 corvette_do all engine block numbers match the VIN as far as the last four or were there occasions where the numbers are not the same?

The VIN derivitive stamped on the pad on the engine block should match the consecutive unit number of the VIN of the vehicle.
The consecutive unit number is also on the trim tag on the driver's door hinge post.
The engine suffix codes for 82 are ZBA, ZBC, or ZBN. There were no optional engines; all were crossfire.

My VIN last four (1654) do not match the block 14010207 i also see letters T-N-D and H-46 all on the rear of the block. any ideas what engine I have?????

You are looking in the wrong area. The pad is located in front of the passenger side head:
Your's would be ZBA (this one is CMR) and the vin # under it.

okay found it......it is the original engine so thats great now how do i know about the trans? Where to find the numbers?
