I bought this vette from a salvage company toward the end of December to part out for my 68 and 76 restoration. The car has a really bad bent frame and the whole rear end has been moved forward so the half shafts are hitting the fiberglass compartments. Surprisingly the car runs very great. I took it out for a ride and noticed that it was far from a stock motor. I was just wondering by chance if anyone knew who previous owner so I could ask him what has done to the engine. The title said that it was from Florida. Long shot but I thought I would try.
If you catch it from the right angle it looks pretty good!
And thats EXACTLY why you dont buy a corvette sight unseen.
Anyways back to the car, if you dont mind me asking, how much did you pay for it? How did you get the hook-up on buying this car? I would LOVE to know where I could buy wrecked C3s for cheap...

I bought it off a website called Cranky ape. It is a salvage/bank repo auction web site. I got it for $1,700 plus a $300 transfer fee plus $400 worth of gas to get it back from Valdosta Georgia to Charlotte. The people there do not know a thing about cars there so if you were going to by a car that you actually cared about you wouldn't want to buy it by only seeing pictures. For me it was fine because I planed on parting it out. They left out allot in the description, both good and bad. But the engine was a good one. It looks like a new Holley 600, some kind of distributor, performer intake, and the pointed type double humped heads. It looks like the engine was pulled and painted. The timing chain was replaced with a chrome one so I didn't know if there is a different cam in there or not or if the crank/pistons have been messed with. That's why I thought I would ask and see if anyone knew by chance the owner.

Thats awesome. Does anyone know of a website like this for people in texas? Id LOVE to get my hands on a car just like this and part it out!
You can find some very good deals and some nightmares... it is definitely caveat emptor. If you know what you're willing to pay for something and can live with undisclosed problems, it's not a bad place to buy a damaged car. As was mentioned, they are virtually useless at providing info on a car beyond what is posted on the site.
