Default Rear Diff bushing

I'm in the process of replacing the rear diff bushings, just below the rear u joint.what am i going to run into.i might just leave the upper bushing because the lower one is missing.does the drive shaft need to come out? It seems you have to pry the HELL out of the diff to sneak the bushing in or should i just pull the drive shaft out and do both?maybe i answered my own question.

You'll find that you have more room to re & re the bolt if you drop the drive shaft.
Place a jack of some sort under the nose of the diff, remove the nut and pull the bolt, jack up until you're able to remove the bushing and sleeve, replace with new and reverse procedure.
Space is tight, watch you don't pinch your fingers!

Thanks for the the response. I also decide not to put the poly bushings in and ordered regular rubber bushings. I ordered all poly bushings for the car and now I'm finding myself reordering rubber bushings.Live and learn I guess.

I replaced the front 2-piece bushings on my 80's Dana 44 when I dropped it for replacement early in the last decade. I used the rubber bushings also. Save for the VB&P poly adjustable rear strut rods, all suspension bushings on my C3 have been replaced with rubber (and they have ALL been replaced... save for the frame bushings).
