I always wanted a California black plate car, but black plates were only issued through 1969. When I bought the '77, I found a black plate online for it. It goes great with the 1972 safari yellow paint. Non-corvette people always think the car is older than it is.

Great car BKbroiler. They are twins. Yours is the only other one I have seen with both the recalled horn button and the lock ring.

This is how my '77 looked back when it came into the family circa 1984 -
Then it was repainted to this -
Now it's back to the original white and in a million pieces.

Chuck - Did you notice that mine has black door pulls and yours match the interior? BTW - What is a lock ring?

No I didn't notice your door pulls were black. I don't know which is correct Binnie will know maybe he will chime in. The lock ring is right under the horn button and locks the tilt tele column. There was a recall on the horn button, sun reflecting off of the brushed aluminum. They replaced them with painted horn buttons. I don't know if the lock ring was part of that recall. Unpainted horn buttons are rare and the unpainted lock rings are even more hard to come by. Chuck
