Default Fuel Pump Upgrade

Want to upgrade from my stock fuel pump on my mildly custom '77 and dress up the plumbing with some nice braided hose and -an fittings. Plan to stick with a mechanical pump and was wondering...does anybody know what the stock pump spec's out at? Is the Holley 80GPH a step up from the stock? They also offer a 110GPH and a 130GPH, but I think the 130 requires a regulator. Of course space matters and the 80is smaller than the 110 and 130, so that is a plus.

Any advice is appreciated.

I've used Carter Mechanical pumps in hi-perf 383ci applications before, anything over 40gph is plenty.

Crap!.....I just realized I put this in the "General" section. I was surfing the "Tech" section and thought I was still there, I guess.

Mods feel free to move this. Thanks.

Scott, thanks for your input. You confirmed what I suspected. There isn't much space down there, so I hope I can get the results I'm after with the 80gph.

There have been many on here that claim a stock AC pump will support some pretty high horsepower ,and the stock pump will have the return line so you don't have to mess with that.

I agree Roger but since the OP specifically wanted to run AN fittings and hoses the Carter Mechanicals work good for that but you could use slip fit hose on the pump end with hose clamp "AN" covers.

I went with and edelbrock, think its a 100gmh.. and we just capped off the return.. I was having issues with the stock with my zz4,, changed it and it was fine..

Exactly. I've been dressing up the engine lately and just thought a chrome pump with braided lines and -an fittings would give a nice clean look. Thanks for the comments guys.
