So my car is actually pretty rust free overall, good frame, window replaced and frame only had slight surface rust, etc but I recently noticed in the body mount well next to the driver / passenger foot area has a lot of rust and bits. I plan on obviously vacuuming it out but what else can I do to minimize rust going forward and maybe neutralize the rust there now?
I was thinking of vacuuming out, then spraying in some Metal Ready, allowing it to dry and the spray some rustoleum in there?
Any suggestions other than taking the body off????
Thanks
Shane

Doesn't sound like you would need to take the body off. Is the metal behind the kick panels in good shape? If you're getting flakes of rust falling down into this area it's probably coming from inside the pillars. I don't know what you can do to stop this unless you somehow can get some rust inhibitor into this area. So far as any surface rust in the #2 mount area, I took the bolt and washer out of mine, wire wheeled it as clean as I could get it, then painted with a zinc rich primer.

Good point, I guess I should actually clean it up and mae sure the rust is not coming from anywhere north.
I've got much the same situation with my car. The pockets behind the kick panels were fairly rusted, especially on the bottom around the frame mount, but i can't find any evidence of rust in the birdcage. A common way of checking for birdcage rust is to take a white cloth or paper towel and puting it on the bottom of that pocket behind the kick panel. You then slam the door a time or two. If there is a rain of rust particles on the cloth, then you know the rust is from the upper reaches of the birdcage.
In any case, what I did was vacuum out the particles, take a wire wheel and steel wool to the pocket and then spray it down with Eastwood's rust encapsulator. You probably should remove the body mount to verify that you have sufficient solid metal under there too.
