Default 1975 Body

I was on Ebay and was looking at other 1975 Coupes. I noticed on the rear of some they don't appear to be the same as mine. I looked at a couple both coupes and Verts and at the rear the area above the tail lights has no spoiler look to it. Mine does. Are the bodystyle different or is my rear a different model add on. Right at the bottom of the luggage rack it rises upwards into a spoiler. Also did the 75's come from the factory with the Corvette emblem between the tail lights. I don't know how to attach a pic but will work on it.

75's don't have a spoiler it just slops downwards, have black bumperettes and the 'CORVETTE' logo between the taillights. My guess is you have a aftermarket bumper.

'75s do not originally have an integral rear spoiler. It was a very common modification for people to remove the correct rear bumper cover and replace it with an 80-82 for this look.

Also, you are unsuccessful in posting pictures because you do not "attach" pictures on this site. That will not work. You upload them at a remote hosting service like Photobucket and you copy the IMG link to paste them into your post. If you are having trouble email me and Ill send you easy instructions.

Default here are some photos for you to compare

1974 was the first year for the sloped rear bumper cover, and that year only it was a two piece split down the middle design

1974

1974 and 1975 were the only years to use that particular style or font of "CORVETTE" letters, in all 'caps' similar to the 73 and earlier 'chrome bumper' cars which use a slightly thiner font lettering... 1974 and 75 have 'indents' in the bumper cover which the letters fit down into slightly
... in 1975 the manufacturing problems were solved so the bumper cover could be produced in one piece..along with 'bumper tips' were added

1975
[edit] oops, I just noticed that the photo I had picked for the 1975 used the wrong year CORVETTE letters from a 1973 or earlier car...so it is now changed to a photo showing the proper stock lettering for 75 [/edit]

in 1976 the individual letters were changed to a one piece badge in a lower case font

1976

even with the large rear window introduced in 1978, the rear bumper stayed like the 1975(with "corvette" badge like the 1976) until 1980~82 when the rear spoiler upturned lip came back, and the "corvette" badge was now in a different lower case font

1980

its very common to see C3 "rubber bumper" cars that have had the bumper covers replaced, as the original flexible urethane covers didn't age well, so often they were replaced with harder fiberglass covers, with most any of the styles from different years could have been used as substitutions

personally I don't like the rear raised spoiler lip of the 1980~82 cars, but many others do and put that style replacement on the earlier cars...but if a 1974~1979 rubber bumper car must have a rear spoiler, for me, I would pick the one they added on in 1978 to the "pace car" edition

if you want to show photos of your car, you can upload them to your "My Corvette Photos" album here on the Corvette Forums....then it is possible to get the URL address of them and show them as images in your post

Hello T Rush
You did a nice job of showing the differences in the years and designs with the photos. I am sure the original poster will be able to see the differences and realize the 80-82 bumper can be added to the earlier years at the owners discretion.

Nice post and reply

well, I'm still in the "honeymoon" stage with corvettes.....spent the last few months with it being all I could think about as I got ready to buy my car....so now it basically is oozing out my pores, and I'd love to share anything I have, while still being a sponge for more

if the weather was nicer(its cold in my garage) and I didn't have to finish the massive construction project of floor to ceiling bookshelves, wall mounted multi monitor and desk side area, window treatment, paint, etc. of my Wife's home office....likely I would be up to my elbows already in grease, sanding dust, resin, wiring, vacuum hoses, etc..and you wouldn't see me here as often spending as much time on posts
