Default Bubba's muffler shop

The previous owner of my 76 attempted to convert from stock exahust sytem with cats to a true dual exhast. At first glace every thing looks ok, and nicly welded. Unfortunately he had such confidance in the welding job that he no longer considered the exhaust hangers necessary. The entire exhasust system is now supported by the header bolts in the front, and the muffler hangers near the rear bumper. Needless to say it sags and rattles when it gets warm.

This brings me to my question....what types of exhast hangers should I use. I am assuming that the hangers from a 74 would probly be the closest, and require only minor modifications to the frame.

Any other suggestions?

There should be a bracket bolted to the transmission crossmember (yours may be missing) that you can attach a couple of U-clamps to. I don't think there are any other brackets between the trans crossmember and the rear of the car.
