The silver (top) and Dark Clarette (bottom) was a classic and uncommon combination. At Bloomington Gold a couple years ago there was a 81 with this combo and it just stuck out. In fact, I just sat down and admired the combo. Needed a rest anyway. But what I noticed was that of all the C3's in that row, it was the only one people 'OOOhhh'd' and 'AAHHHHH'd' over.
The nice thing about that combo is you wouldn't have to completely change your color combo in the jambs, that gets expensive. But OTOH, you really need the factory pinstripe to pull it off. Cars w/o a pinstripe or trim to break up a color change just don't look right. That stripe will cost you to either buy, or have custom made. But if you aren't pinching pennies, it might be a good combo to consider.
I'll see what difference it will make getting the jambs redone along with the rest of the car. It is going to need to be stripped, so I figured it will pretty well all need to come off, with the door jambs being the one complication there. I'm not sure how they do door jambs, but I'm not looking for a show car, so if they can scuff up the jambs and blast away with a few coats of black and call it a day, I'd probably be happy with the result, as long as the rest of the car looked good.
