Default Jack Installation

I have the original jack and handle and was wondering if any of you might have any advice / instruction on how to mount it in the storage compartment. I bought a new spring and it draws the jack down tightly, but how in the world do you keep the handle from rattling? I think I've got it positioned correctly, but it's loose and I know it will rattle. Help???

i wrap a small towel around it and it will serve double duty when you change a tire.

Excellent idea! Surely Chevrolet didn't intend for the handle to just lay loosly underneath the jack tho...

i've had many gm cars and a few chevy's in my life and i'm still not sure what they intended to do.i have an 01' intrigue which is as close as they came to a great family sedan.a few cheap parts kept them off the mark.

I put mine on the topside of the jack, and lock it in with the spring.

Your AIM should show the proper way to fasten everything down.

There is a rubber donut which fits over the lug end of the wrench to keep it from rattling.

The spring holds everything more securely than you might think. No rattles in my 68 or my 80.

I'm pretty sure I have it installed per AIM and I have the hard rubber piece on the end, but the handle is still loose. I'll drive with it like it is and see if it rattles. IF it does, I'll probably put a towel under it.
