Default Opinion on 68 value

Ok here's the deal , the guy that is painting my 72 called me last night and said he as a line on a 68 vert big block that is a one owner. Of course his first question is what's it worth? My response was depends, which big block, which trans, hard top soft top or both? I need more info. He said it's a one owner and and the guy is not in good health and wants to sell all his cars except for his 1958 vette that he has had since high school. I told him to look for the usual rust places and that the 68 has a lot of unique things such as the ignition switch in the dash, the push button doors, and number other things. He is supposed to send more pics but the two i have seen show a red on black C3 with a big block hood that has been altered, wrong side vent louvers , and wrong rocker panels. I am not at home and have no access to my books so can someone give me some relatives values of worth. Vin numbers and such too would help! I will hopefully hear from him soon and will try to upload pics. Red on black 1968 vert with a 427 and auto trans. Yep no 4 spd so no L88. Any help and info would be great. Many thanks.

The stamp pad would be a big factor, especially for a big block. If there's no VIN derivative many will declare it a fake. Even with the VIN some will insist on documentation to prove it wasn't restamped.

I'd shoot a bit low unless there's documentation to prove it's the original configuration. Lower still if it's a NOM.

Any chance of posting pictures? Values have a wide range depending on condition, originality, etc.

Impossible to say without more info. With this info your looking at a price range between 10,000 to 50,000
