Default A/c box question.

Tonight as I got home from the show, my recently adapted c-4 blower fan started to make a noise that it was hitting the spacer I made. As i was under the fender moving it a bit I felt cold air coming from the box. I noticed that the black caulking substance was dry rotted and fallen out. Leaving a gap from top -side- bottom. I unbolted the two screws on top of the box and pryed it open about 1/2 inch. I noticed that the rubber gasket that was suppose to be in the gap was inside the box, Blocking the air from going thru the a/c rad. I pulled it out. It was dry rotted also. I then vacumed out all the debree. Can I just caulk the box all around, then use A/C metal tape over that to seal it? I really do not want to take that whole box off!

Caulk it well enough and you may not need the AC tape.

Thanks Mike! I caulked it late last night. Today I put on some of the A/C tape just to be safe. Tried it out. BOY the air is flowing cold now!!! Lucky I found it. I was woundering why the car was not cooling down enough inside. Especially after I installed the bigger fan. That damn rubber gasket that slipped and fell inside, was holding a buch of garbage -(leaves& twigs) Now that thats all taken out, the air is nice and cold and blowing hard.
