Default Electrical issue on 79 Corvette

My lights went out on my speedometer and tach as well as all my guages

It happened when I was replacing my dash, my bro broke the light switch I replaced the switch with a junked one from a 78.

The wiper now makes a weird cracking noise when it is first initiated and sometime or another (I can't remember exactly what I did) I saw my lights on my tach and speedo flicker then go out.

I tested the 7.5 fuse that goes to isnt lamp but couldn't get anything from either side of the fuse. I replaced it anyway, no dice.

Headlights and wiper work

Your switch from the junked 78 might be bad.

But how does it have anything to do with my guage lights?

Is it fixable? My head lights do work

And I actually just remembered, it is the original light switch. We got the dash from the junked vette, and we broke the one in that dash. So we used the original light switch but a different wiper switch

I also have the clicking sound when operating the wipers... and sometimes when not operating the wipers. Since I need to do the brake booster and heater core the whole darn thing is coming out and getting cleaned up and reassembled with new LED instruments lights.
Car probably won't get driven this summer.

wiper clicking may be delay relay in console,
check the tail light fuse (20amp) it sends power to the light switch, which transfers power through the light switch rheostat to the 7.5a fuse and then to the dash lights.

IP lights (speedo, tach, cluster) dim up and down with the headlight switch ****. If the rheostat fails (common) the IP lights will not dim up or down and often will not work at all. Have you turned the **** to see if you have IP lights.

Second possible cause of no IP lights is the IP fuse in the fuse panel.

Do you have a good dash harness ground on the driver's hinge post?
