Mine has a metal clip that holds it into place. I don't have a picture handy, but can take a pic tonight. I have my dash out right now, but I'm ready to get it all back together.
Yes, you are right. My speedo cable should have a cap-nut for screw on. Can I get this from Keisler?
Another question: I also have a electrical connector for the speedo. Is there a conversion box available that converts the electrical signal to a mechanical? Like you need when you install a T56.

Thanks, Günther
The Abbott Cable-X converter is the only one that I have found. I just installed one in my 72. Some people complained of jumpy speedo needles at low speeds but the newer Cable-X boxes use a 30-pulse circuit instead of the older 8-pulse. I've only driven the car ~1 mile since I installed it but it seems pretty smooth at low speeds. It is calibrated via switches so you can compensate for gearing and tire size.
If you have a mechanical speedo connection on your trans I would use that. You only need the VSS signal from the trans if you are using fuel injection or other computer controls.
If you do decide to buy a Cable-X there is a guy on ebay who sells them both as Buy-It-Now and regular no-reserve auctions, with a starting price of $249.00. There are very few people bidding on these so I waited until near the end and bid $249 and won it. Most other vendors sell them for over $300.00
@Keisler Automotive: yesterday I sent a mail to your customer service, but didn´t get a answer till now.
I want to buy the correct speedo cable from you. Please send me a e-mail with all details you need from me, so I can buy it as soon as possible!!!

Please still post the picture, I would like to see the set up! Thanks
Here you go Ian. First shot shows clip attached to the speedometer. Second pic I'm pushing clip toward base, You push it down like that when you are disconnecting the cable . . . push clip down and pull cable out. To reattach, just press cable down on the speedometer until you hear the "click" of the clip as it locks cable. Third pic shows cable connected, you can barely make out the clip, but it there at the base of the cable. Hope this helps . . . Lane
