Default First time buyer advice

Hey everyone,

I am new to the forum. I have been researching c3 s for over a year or so and I have decided that I want one. If anyone has any tips for finding a good used c3 ( FYI rubber bumpers so the later years). I am not concerned about originality. Tips for checking out used c3 s would be appreciated. What to look for ect.

I am hoping to get a learning experience out of this forum.

Has anyone had any experience with Contes in nj ?

Rust would be my #1 concern. VERY expensive to fix. There are many threads on this board covering what to look for regarding rust.

If you're not concerned about originality that's OK. Be aware of the price difference so you don't get taken. I'm not familiar with pricing on later year C3s but know there's a big difference in price for earlier models, originals and non originals, especially the more desireable power trains.

Yeah. I had a guy a couple of months ago tell me that a car was in great driveable shape for a very cheap price. He told me that it just needed new carpet and seats. I drove about 2 hours to look at the car only to find a giant rust hole in the floor and frame falling part.

Thanks for the advice. I am not expert on corvettes but I love learning more about them. That's the reason I joined this forum.

Thanks again for the imput

FWIW: good reading here. Worth the price of a copy.
