I am 5'8" and my wife is only 4'11", so there is some difficulty with seeing the front of our '79 from the driver seat. I have searched the forums and came up with some ideas. Please let me know if I am missing something or if there is a better option:
1) I can buy a power seat track from am '81-'82, bolt the existing seats to it, and buy the switch and cover assembly, and make all the connections.
2) Speeddirect.com has the Corbeau seats that are supposed to fit with the tight clearances, but I don't see any options for a height adjustment on any aftermarket seat.
3) I can modify a C4 or C5 seat, but most of the ones I saw on Ebay in decent condition are going for ridiculous prices. Others will need a ton of work. Plus, these seat backs look much taller and would be an issue for us who need the seat bottom to be higher.
Cushion ... Give up on trying to see the front ...
Buy a couple boat seat cushions which are usually made of closed cell foam about 2" thick and rectangular and wrapped in nylon fabric and sit on them. the other options involve lots and lots of $$. Any good boating supply store has them like West marine, etc.
For that matter, decide on the size you want and go online and order closed cell foam of the size and thickness you want and have it made to fit the seat.

The 81-82 power seat track with motor will not fit your 79 without cutting the floor pan for clearance.
This may be simplistic but here goes. You can make a very nice cushion from the same pattern of seat type that you already have. Many people do not know that you can order a seat bottom alone instead of an entire set. I have worked with Corvette America on this matter on two occasions. The first was sitting on a seat in my 1967 with a screw driver in place....no further comment.
The second was just to have a spare back-up seat bottom for the interior of my 1974 done in 2008. Thank goodness I have not been less-than-stupid as with the 1967 and have yet to use it.
Molded nicely with foam from a local hobby store, and stitched up by hand, you have a pop-in/pop-out option/cushion. Cost is about $90.00 for leather-like plus the foam.
