I am putting a 4L65E in my 80 vette and I have seen on this forum or perhaps a transmission shops site a replacement lens for our cars with the 1-2-3 and D for drive to replace the existing lens and I cannot seem to be able to locate it again. Has anyone replaced theirs when they went with an overdrive tranny? If so were did you purchase it.
I've changed mine to a 700R (non electronic) tranny last year.
I installed the Eckles shifter conversion kit (part number 34801) which allowed me to keep the original shifter. This has the lens, detent and all bits required for the shifter change. Worked great .

Probably available from other vendors as well.

The 82 Corvette came with the 4 speed auto. The 82 auto lens is only marked, 2-3-D. There's no "1" on it for 1st gear. The 82 console is identical to the 80, so the 82 lens will go right in, without any modification.
The 82 lens is reproed, and available from most Corvette vendors.
GBvette62 is correct.
The stock detent does not allow for selection of 1st gear in the 82 model because I believe it is the same detent used for the 3 speed auto in the early models.
Installing a different lens (1,2,3 D) will not give full manual selection. You would have to change the detent in order to select the lower 3 gears.
