Alternator Bracket Question
What color is the cast iron alternator pivot bracket supposed to be? Mine is black right now. I'm detailing the engine and was curious of the correct color for the bracket. I'm thinking of painting it a cast blast color since it's cast iron. Anyone know?

On my 71 the adjustment arm/bracket is semi gloss black while the alt mounting bracket is painted engine color.

My bracket system is different. I don't have the 2 painted brackets in photo #2. Mine has a cast iron bracket the alt fits in and pivots for adjusting.

What year for your car? Black is probably correct since these were installed at the factory.

Per the NCRS Judging Guide it should be painted semi gloss black.

Semi Gloss black. I have the same bracket on the 70. It's NOM and was on the Vette when I bought it.

Comes from GM (still available) painted black, as does the upper adjustment brace.
