After another week of sanding. Are the machine screws in the interior, rocker panels etc. SAE or Metric? This is a 77 coupe.
And to remove the outside door handle and such does the electric window and components need to be removed completely. Thanks Jim

I believe that all of the machine screws on the '77 were SAE. I remember being surprised to find more than a few metrics on my '85 after selling the '77 to buy a new '85.
Removing the door handle and even the latch from the door can all be done without removing the electric window and components. You will want to run the window all of the way up to get to the nuts on the door handle. I like to use a 1/4" drive with a long extension to make it easier to reach up into the tight confines at the top of the door to remove the nuts.
To reinstall, I usually very carefully start the nuts back on by hand and then snug them up with the ratchet and extension. Remember to use a new gasket under the door handle when you reinstall it and don't over tighten the latch as it will squeeze out the rubber gasket and look tacky.
Gusto has it right on the hardware, 77 was still SAE. GM started fazzing in some metrics in the early 80's, but this was mostly for mechanical parts.
Your best bet for hardware, is a Corvette vendor. All of them sell interior screw kits that come with every screw you need for the interior. The kits sell for $25-$30, and have all of the correct screws you need. All of the screws are labeled, so you know right where they go.
77 rocker screws were a special screw. They are a #10 screw, with a #8 head. This was done so that the screw would sit down flush in the rocker molding. A regular #10 machine screw that will work, but it's not what was there originally. All of the Vette vendors offer the correct rocker screws, in a kit too.
Gustos right about the door handles/window motors situation, too. Unless you have young children around with tiny hands, a long extensions a must.
Thank you, gbvette62 always appreciate the confirmation. I am trying to make out an large order to Wilcox today. I wanted to get an interior screw set but the discription for their screw set started 78 to later models? Gona call them and get set straight. thanks. Jim

Usually the interior screw kits come as 68-76, 77, and 78-82. The 77 is usually a one year only kit, because of the different console and center bezel the 77 uses.
