Default what did i do wrong lighting help

ok i removed the dash from my 76 and when i put it back together and tried to install new cd player i made a mess, i have no dash lights for one and cant get the radio to work, i spliced into the factory radio harness and used the yellow it seemed to be constant power and the grey seemed to be off the ignition. it came on for a minuet but only if i had the headlights on. the other thing i cant figure out is at the fuse panel i have the headlight buzzer with lt brow wires on top that i cant find where they connect and there seems to be a spot on the bottom for a connector to plug into but cant find any thing that matches. i replaced all bulbs while i had it out and they worked until i did the radio. any help at all would be great

The grey wire for the radio in the original harness is for the lighting of the radio! That would explain why it only comes on with headlights on.
I used the original yellow for key on power to the radio, constant power comes directly from the battery through a seperate fusepanel. (my radio also had a connection for lighting, so thats where the original grey went so the radio dims when I turn the headlight switch and gors to night mode when the headlights are on.
Can't help you with the second question.
Regards,
Nick
