I think the forum was originally designed to help other Corvette lovers to restore these rare cars and keep thim running,These day;s I see more and more People advertising on the forum spares for sale just below new spare prices,I feel it is a shame for people to try and rip other people off.
This is my opinion lets see what other people think

I suspect Mop lives either in the UK, or Australia, perhaps New Zealand... where "spares" are parts; as in "Vettebuyer has an extensive inventory of rare spares: he just sold me an original flingle tube, a one month only part found only in RHD conversions." I suspect Corvettes in general are somewhat rare outside the US.
Spares are the same as Parts, Maybe in the US they are not rare but anywhere els in the word they are Rare = collectors items, Pre 1985, Some people in the US want top dollar for rusted second hand parts//// just below the cost of new parts ,I call that ripping people off

I hate to say it but if people will pay the price, people will keep asking high dollar for the parts...I just repainted my car and added all new emblems...well i got more on ebay for my old tired emblems than i paid for my brand new ones,,,and these people had a choice not to bid...but they did...
If you think a price is too high, you don't buy it. Hence, no one gets ripped off. If at that point you cannot find the part for significantly less, then maybe the price wasn't so high after all.
If a used part price is too close to new, then obviously just buy new. However, if used/correct/NOS is what you really want, then its comparison to new repro is not valid.
People complain about parts prices sometimes but the fact is the market pretty much regulates itself.
