Default A Cool Story

So yesterday I decided to take my 72 out for a short cruise at lunch to get away from the work madness. On my way back home I decided to stop in and get some gas. As I was pumping the gas, a British tourist came up asking if he could take a pic of my car. Of course I had no issues with this, but it was not just one pic but well over a dozen from every vantage point you can imagine. He even layed on the ground to take a few (glad I have started the recondition of my undercarriage, or the shots from the back would have shown 38 years of road grime on it). I kind of laughed at this, but hell, it is always nice when someone enjoys my car as much as I do.

Anyways, after he finished taking pics, we chatted a bit about old cars and how it is a labor of love. I told him the grief I sometimes get from friends as I throw hours of work and $ at my 72, but to me even though I will never get back what I put into it, there is just an amazing feeling as I progress through my "rolling recondition" of my vette. He told me he gets the same with a TVR that he has back in England. We continued to chat for about 20-30 minutes before I left. But before he walked back to his rental car, he mentioned that the C3 vette is still the sexiest and most notorious body styles out there

I know all of us on here got a C3 for different reasons and use our cars in varous ways... But I think all of us can say that the C3 just brings something out in us that we can never put a price on

I can understand why he took so much interest. After all, the '72 is the sexiest of all C3's...

Corvette paparazzi! Pretty cool. I've had people ask to take a picture standing next to it, and have had people take a picture of my car from their cell phone while at a light, but never had the celebrity treatment.

You should of taken him for a joy ride and really give him the feel of America's Sports Car. That is as long as he did not seem like some weirdo I guess.

is is amazing the "crowd" a C3 can draw. i actually got thanked by the owner of a gas station a few years ago when i stopped in to fill up and a few people in the station stopped what they were doing to come over and look the car over. the guy says, "thanks" for sharing your car with us today, when i go to pay for my gas. probably the most unusual comment i ever received while i've had the car out.

Yes its great. I am a long time Mopar fan too and I was standing around a bunch of Mopar guys near my C3 a month ago or so. All of us commented on how there were no prettier car bodies that came out of the USA than the C3. We all had good things to say about them. I don't think I ever take a drive without someone admiring the car.

Its just a pretty blue Chevy but its got the public wrapped around its finger.

One sunny day late last fall at Pierces Barbecue in Lightfoot, Va. I'd driven there for lunch. Went in after parking the car against the far side of the lot near some picnic tables and grass...less cars around it. Went in, ordered, ate, came out and a dude was in my car with his G.F. taking his photo! I was astonished at the boldness and he apologized and got the hell out of dodge but that was going too far for me.

A couple months back I came out of the store, and saw a group of folks around my car. As I got closer I saw two children "sitting" on my front fender, and thier mother taking pic's on her cell phone. I was pissed and flattered at the same time. I asked the kids if they wanted to sit in it. They said no and they all quickly walked off.

Thanks for sharing these cool stories.

These cars do tend to draw the looks. I'm glad I finally saw the light in time to relish in some of the fun.

The last time I stopped at one of the local watering holes, a couple of nice Asian fellas came out from a sub shop next door to ask lots of questions. They'd mentioned that they were visiting from somewhere in Japan and hadn't got close to an old one but had seen photos. They were very cordial with wonderful manners and it was a pleasure to explain what I could. And yes, they got their pictures.

Though I had a date waiting, she could see from inside the bar what was going on so I got a pass for being a little late.

Love these cars.

That says it all. You need to ask you friends if their hobby (golf - hunting - bowling - fishing - skiing - what ever?) returns their money when they're done? It's entertainment. Entertainment costs. It doesn't pay.

It's also my "theropy" from work! I could also say my "kids" but im starting to realize that the old syaing "time is short" really is! So I don't get upset as much as I use to. I'd say I love my vette as much as my kids.

Sweet ride you have there and nothing better than taking it to your own wedding Definitely beats a ride in a boring limo!

My ride to the wedding was in my uncles 57 caddy limo. Talk about BIG.

Default crowd pleasers

Well been a while since I had my red 77 daytona vette out and last sat. weather was really nice so I decided to go local flea market. When I parked car I saw a few stares . 20 minutes later when I walked an a joining asile I saw crowd gathering in the parking lot like someone had an accident or was lying on ground passed out. As I look close and walked closer it was a crowd around my vett. People were snapping pics , walking around it in circles like it was their first glimpse of a vette. I heard one guy in the crowd say man that must be a new vette and another say nawwh its from the 80's. On the way home down the interstate got numberous people passing by with camera phones taking pics/videos. It made me feel really good to see others apperciate my vette. Richard
